What software development services actually include
A software development service is the whole job of turning something your business needs into software that runs: working out what it has to do, designing how it looks and behaves, writing and testing the code, putting it somewhere it can be reached, and keeping it working afterwards. Where companies differ is how much of that they cover. Plenty will build you an application and leave hosting, launch and support to somebody else — which is fine until something breaks and there are three suppliers with three explanations.
The eight services below are each a piece of that job, and we cover all of them with one team. Most projects use more than one. An online store is e-commerce development plus DevOps and cloud for the hosting; a delivery business is mobile app development plus custom software for the dispatch side. You do not need to work out which combination you need before you get in touch — that is what the first conversation is for, and it is free.
What stays the same across every service is the shape of the engagement: a written quote within 48 hours of that first call, something working to look at every second week, and code, accounts and data in your name from day one. The technology changes with the problem. The commitments do not.
Which software development service do you need?
Find the row that sounds like your situation. Most projects use two of these together, and working out which is what the first call is for.
| Start hereThe service that leads | Typical timelineFirst call to live | Usually paired with | |
|---|---|---|---|
| We need a website that brings in enquiries | Web Development | 4–8 weeks | DevOps & Cloud for hosting and monitoring |
| Our customers keep asking for an app | Mobile App Development | 10–16 weeks | Custom Software for the back office behind it |
| Staff spend hours on repetitive admin | AI Solutions & Automation | 4–10 weeks | Custom Software where systems must connect |
| We want to sell online, or sell more | E-commerce Development | 6–14 weeks | WordPress & Shopify if the platform stays |
| Our WordPress or Shopify site needs real work | WordPress & Shopify Development | 2–6 weeks | E-commerce for a larger rebuild |
| We pay too much commission on delivery orders | Food Delivery & Restaurant Technology | 8–20 weeks | Mobile Apps for the customer and rider sides |
| Nothing off the shelf fits how we work | Custom Software & SaaS | 12–24 weeks | DevOps & Cloud, and Web Development |
| What we have is slow, fragile or unmonitored | DevOps & Cloud | 2–6 weeks | Whichever service owns the application itself |
Four stages, no surprises.

Cost, timelines and ownership.
The six that come up before anything else. Longer answers, and twenty-two more questions, are on the FAQ page.
How much do software development services cost?
A business website usually starts in the low thousands; a mobile app with a back office behind it runs to tens of thousands; a multi-app platform more again. The range is too wide to be useful as a headline, which is why we quote in writing within 48 hours of the first call instead.
How long does it take to build custom software?
Four to eight weeks for a website, ten to sixteen for a mobile app, twelve to twenty-four for a full custom platform. Those are ranges from first call to live, and they assume you can give us a decision-maker for about forty-five minutes every second week.
Which service do I actually need?
Start from the problem rather than the technology — the table above maps common situations to the service that leads. Most projects use two or three together, and working out the combination is part of the first conversation, not something you need to arrive with.
Do you work on software somebody else built?
Frequently, and it is more common than starting from scratch. We begin with a paid review, usually a week, so both sides know the real condition of the code before committing to a plan. Occasionally that review concludes a rebuild is cheaper than a rescue, and we say so.
Who owns the code when the project ends?
You do, from the first day rather than the last. Work lands in your repository under your licence, hosting and app store accounts are in your name, and we build on standard technology so another developer could take it over without calling us.
What happens after the software goes live?
You choose. We hand over properly either way — written documentation and a walkthrough with your team. From there you can run it yourself, keep us on a monthly support arrangement with agreed response times, or split it between your team and ours.
